Opportunities for Enhanced Near-term U.S.-China Climate Action: The Food System

Date & Time

Tuesday
Mar. 7, 2023
8:00pm – 9:15pm ET

Overview

The food system contributes about 34 percent of total global greenhouse gas emissions, with China and the United States as the first and third largest emitters. Among the greatest opportunities for emissions reductions in the food system are reducing and repurposing food loss and waste, along with improving fertilizer use efficiency.

At event co-sponsored by the Wilson Center’s China Environment Forum and the California-China Climate Institute, speakers explored the pathways for the U.S. and China to achieve emission reductions, soil health improvement, and sustainable development goals while meeting global food demand.

This webinar is part of the China Environment Forum’s Cultivating US and Chinese Climate Leadership on Food and Agriculture project.
