2025 Spring Internship with the Indo-Pacific Program
The Indo-Pacific Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars seeks a staff intern for a paid fall internship. Applicants with an interest in, coursework related to, and experience working on issues related to US security, economic, and political interests in the Indo-Pacific are encouraged to apply by the November 25, 2024 deadline.

Internship Description
The 2025 Spring Internship provides an opportunity for practical experience in an environment that bridges academic study with public policy. The staff intern will gain valuable experience in conference organization, policy research methods, preparation of publications, social media management, and administrative assignments in support of Program activities. Opportunities to foster independent research will also be offered; the intern will be encouraged to draft an individual blogpost on a topic relevant to their field for potential publication in the Indo-Pacific Program’s Asia Dispatches.
The 2025 Spring Internship will be conducted in an in-person work status, including both telework and onsite tasks to assist with in-person events in Washington, D.C.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist with programmatic and administrative tasks
- Assist with virtual and on-site conferences and workshops, including prepping the event spaces and designing event materials for distribution
- Research and monitor political and economic developments in the Indo-Pacific and US relations with countries in the region.
- Provide research support for Indo-Pacific Program analysts
Eligibility Requirements
The Wilson Center is NOT able to sponsor visas for interns. International students, holding hold a valid F-1 or J-1 visa and appropriate work authorization, are eligible to apply. All international students must obtain written permission from their Designated School Official or Responsible Visa Officer at their university stating that they are in valid immigration status and eligible to participate in an internship at the Wilson Center.
Applicants should have a solid understanding of the geopolitics and economic relations of East Asia and experience conducting research. While Japanese, Mandarin, or Korean language skill would be useful, it is not a prerequisite.
Hours/Payment
This internship is a paid, part-time position (up to 15 hours/week) for 12 weeks. A modest salary of $17.45/hr. (GS 3, step 3) will be provided to the selected applicant for the duration of the 12-week internship.
