The Kennan Institute seeks a Program Associate who will take a leading role working, with the Program Director and Deputy Director, in defining Kennan Institute (KI) strategic goals related to activities in and around Russia, Ukraine and the region.

Duties

  • Conducts research on Russian, Ukrainian, Eurasian, and related topics as required for the planning and coordination of programmatic activities
  • Stays current on developments in Russia, Ukraine, Eurasia and U.S. policies in the region through researching and fact checking information
  • Identifies and recommends appropriate speakers for public events
  • Produces meeting reports
  • Edits production of the program’s publications and papers
  • Develops, edits and co-authors articles to be published on the Internet and for Wilson Center publications in English and a foreign language
  • Prepares and edits correspondence for the director and other senior Wilson Center staff
  • Responds to and schedules media inquiries and coordinates interviews for the director and scholars
  • Provides financial oversight support to include budget preparation and review utilizing financial software programs
  • Maintains and executes purchase orders, honoraria, contracts, and payments in consultation with the Program Director
  • Works on logistical aspects of conferences, meetings, and other program events, including travel, with internal and external stakeholders to include partner organizations
  • Manages the program’s public website, (including the development of its content); and social media platforms on a daily basis to ensure that they reflect up-to-date information about programmatic initiatives
  • Assists with the coordination of the administration of outreach strategies and internal and external outreach initiatives affiliated with the program
