    Full Biography

    Agathonique Barakukuza is the President of the Burundian Association of Women Journalists (AFJO) and a journalist at the Burundian Press Agency (APB). She has more than 20 years of experience working in the media and Burundi, including as a member of Burundi’s National Communication Council (CNC) from 2011-2014. As a leading woman in her field, Agathonique has been working actively to promote the effective participation of women in Burundi’s media. She currently holds the Presidency of the Regional Network of Women in the Great Lakes (RFMGL), a network recently created to connect media women across the region and create opportunities for cross border learning and collaboration.
