Betsy is a former independent non-profit fundraising and strategic planning consultant and Executive Director of Girls on the Run DC, where she oversaw significant organizational, programme and financial growth. She supports honoring her father's legacy as a Board Member of Amazon Forest Survey Association in Brazil, as an Executive Advisory Committee Member of the Lovejoy Center for Bridging Biodiversity, Conservation Science and Policy at the University of Arizona and as a member of the Thomas E. Lovejoy Prize Blue Ribbon Committee. Like her father, she is an avid birder and spends time in nature every day.
