Full Biography
Buket Bahar Dıvrak is an expert on sustainable development and has been working at ASAM (Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants) as Deputy General Coordinator since January 2019. She held her Bachelors Degree from Middle East Technical University, Department of City and Regional Planning in 2002, and received her Masters Degree at the same university in the field of Urban Policy Planning and Local Governments in 2005. Through her professional career with more than 17 years, she mainly worked at international and national NGOs and gained extensive practical and technical knowledge on the cross-sectoral nature of sustainable development. She has a thorough understanding of Turkey’s social and economic policy frameworks including urban policy and planning, rural development, humanitarian debates and migration policies. She also worked as a consultant for the World Bank and private sector in the field of sustainable development. She actively took part in design, implementation and coordination of tens of medium and large scale projects both in Turkey and Mediterranean Region. Her other interest and working areas are policy mapping, collaborative planning, gender equality, inclusive and participatory decision-making mechanisms, strategic partnership development, needs assessment and capacity building. She has presented several papers at conferences both home and abroad, published articles and reports.
