Expert Bio
Dr. Chichi Peng received a Ph.D. in history from the University of California at Santa Barbara in December 2020. Her dissertation, entitled the "Taiwanese People's Cold War: Elite Migration, Transnational Advocacy Network and the Making of Taiwan's Democracy, 1977-1987," discussed how Taiwanese diasporic groups had enabled their grassroots activism to engage in contesting and articulating powerless people’s agency and subjectivity in the Cold War and hegemonic power struggles. She is presently working on turning the dissertation into a book. Dr. Peng is a former president of the North American Taiwan Studies Association (NATSA) and has been engaging in the Taiwanese American community organizing and activism for many years.
