Expert Bio

Gabriel Sánchez Zinny is the former minister of education in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Throughout his career, he has developed comprehensive education policies and products, specifically in the field of educational technology.

Currently, he continues to serve the Buenos Aires Ministry of Education as the executive director of the Integral Assessment Unit of Educational Quality and Equity. He is also a member of the Education program’s Working Group on Innovation and Technology in Education at the Dialogue.

Before becoming the minister of education in Buenos Aires in 2017, Sánchez worked for the Argentinian national Ministry of Education as the director of the National Institute of Technological Education.

In conjunction with his work in Argentina, Sánchez has also held positions in a number of international affairs institutions in both full-time and advisory capacities. Currently, he is a senior advisor with the Center for Strategic International Studies Project on Prosperity and Development. Additionally, he was the director of the Argentina Program at the Wilson Center and managing director at Blue Star Strategies.

Sánchez is the co-author of a wide variety of books on educational policy and frequently writes columns specifically on the topics of US-Latin American relations and educational technology.

He holds degrees from the Universidad de San Andrés de Buenos Aires, Argentina in economics and a master’s in public policy from Georgetown University.
