Gabriela Leva is the Citizen Security specialist within the Democracy and Governance office in USAID/Honduras. Leva is the coordinator for the citizen security portfolio, mainly developing innovative approaches to the strategic application of the crime and violence programming in Honduras. Leva joined USAID in early 2000; she was the recipient of USAID’s 2010 Foreign Service National of the Year award for her work as the elections advisor during the 2009 coup d’état in Honduras. She is a lawyer, specializing in International Law, with extensive experience as a development practitioner in Honduras and South Africa.
