Full Biography

Gisèle Yasmeen’s expertise is on sustainable food-systems in an international context. She is also an experienced executive having served as Associate Vice-President, International at the University of Ottawa, Executive Director of Food Secure Canada, Vice-President at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Senior Director at Elections Canada and Regional Director of the Centre for Research and Information on Canada. She is currently on the board of the Council for Canadian Academies and a member of the International Advisory Council of the Centre for Open Societal Systems. Dr. Yasmeen was also a member of the Canada-US Innovation Committee created by former US Ambassador, David Jacobson. She provides media commentary in English and French and has worked around the world and studied Spanish, Thai, Urdu, and Mandarin. Dr. Yasmeen has a PhD from the University of British Columbia, a master’s from McGill and a BA Honours from the University of Ottawa.
