Giuliana Torta serves as Counsellor for Environment, Fisheries and Ocean policies at the EU Delegation to the US in Washington DC. Giuliana has been working in the European Commission in Brussels for 11 years before moving to the US in 2017. She was in charge of International forest policies from 2008 to 2016, covering all aspects of legal timber trade negotiation and EU policies to fight deforestation. Over her career she carried out assignments in a range of different environmental policy areas, in Europe, Asia and in the Pacific region. Giuliana holds a PhD in Forest Ecology, is a forester by background and a forest owner.
