A. James McAdams is the William M. Scholl Professor of International Affairs at the University of Notre Dame. His most recent work, Vanguard of the Revolution: The Global Idea of the Communist Party, named one of the best books of 2018 by Foreign Affairs, is the product of decades of research and teaching as well as his travels to nearly every communist or post-communist country in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. He is also the author of Judging the Past in Unified Germany and Germany Divided: From the Wall to Unification.
