Full Biography
Jana Newman manages the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Unit at Aotearoa New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She is New Zealand’s Head of Delegation to Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meetings (ATCM), and has been part of New Zealand delegations to the ATCM since 2006. She is also New Zealand’s Commissioner to CCAMLR. With a background in science and conservation, she has worked on Antarctic issues for more than 20 years: as a student, an Environmental Manager and Committee for Environmental Protection Representative, and as a General Manager with New Zealand’s Antarctic Programme.
