Wilson Center Project
“Clean Cities Certification Initiative for Asia”
Project Summary
Asian cities are at the drivers of growth in the region, yet the long-term economic growth and stability of these cities and the health of their citizens are being threatened by urban air pollution. The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars has agreed to join forces with Clean Air Asia and other partners to design and launch a program that helps cities throughout Asia onto a fast track to cleaner air using the power of a progressive, independent certification and incentive scheme. The Wilson Center’s role will be to assist CAA in research that will help in the design of the certification initiative. This research work will be done with three Taiwanese researchers—the IEP Clean Cities Fellows—who will be hosted at the Wilson Center for 2 months (July and August) in the summer of 2015.
