João Augusto de Castro Neves

Joao Augusto de Castro Neves has extensive experience in political risk analysis, advisory, and strategic consulting for high-level global markets, corporate, energy, and government clients, both in the US and in Brazil. He co-manages Eurasia Group's Brazil business development strategy, which includes engagement with local and global clients, bespoke services and products, establishing a local office, and an extensive media strategy.

Joao holds a doctorate in political science from the University of Sao Paulo, a master's degree from the Instituto Universitario de Pesquisas do Rio de Janeiro, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Brasilia. He has lectured at top US and Brazilian universities, and he has conducted research on Latin American trade and regional integration and Brazilian foreign policy. He and his team correctly forecasted President Dilma Rousseff's reelection in 2014, and they have comprehensively covered the Lava Jato scandal that has engulfed Brazil. Based in Washington since 2010, Joao has collaborated with top international consulting firms, think tanks, and business organizations. When in Brazil, he served as a legislative advisor in congress and as a senior analyst at Instituto Brasileiro de Estudos Politicos. In 2007, he co-founded CAC Consultoria, a political risk shop in Brasilia, where he worked until 2010.
