Full Biography
Kimmo Himberg (b. 1956) has over 30 years of experience in police management in his native Finland. He is the Rector of the Police University College, the sole police education institution in the country since 2011. He has a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Helsinki and also studied Criminal Justice Management in the University of Birmingham, UK. Before his current position he was the director of theNBI Forensic Laboratory, a national criminal investigation support unit. He has held expert positions within Interpol, UNODC, the European Law Enforcement Training Agency CEPOL and the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes ENFSI. In 2004-2006 he worked for the Council of Europe in Istanbul, Turkey. Dr. Himberg is an adjunct professor in quality management at the University of Helsinki. His research interests include internal security strategies, knowledge based police management, and ethical policing.
