Full Biography
Dr. Lan Dong teaches Asian American literature, world literature, comics and graphic narratives, and children’s and young adult literature at UIS. She has published six books as either author or editor and has published numerous journal articles, book chapters, and reference essays on Asian American literature, comics and graphic narratives, and children’s and young adult literature. She is the author of Mulan's Legend and Legacy in China and the United States.
Specifically, she studies the legend of Mulan and how the story has changed from its Asian roots to popularity in the United States. She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
