    Full Biography

    The former Prime Minister of Poland, Leszek Miller, is a graduate of the Higher School of Social Sciences in Warsaw, where he received a Master's degree in political science. As a worker in the Linen Industry Works of Zyrardow, he became active in civic and trade union affairs. This experience ultimately led to important positions in Polish political parties. Prime Minister Miller has headed up several government ministries, such as Labour and Social Policy (1993-1996), and Interior and Administration (1997). In recent years, he has served as Prime Minister (until May 2004), where he played an instrumental role in bringing Poland into the European Union. During his time at the Wilson Center, where he will be in residence through June 17, 2005, Prime Minister Miller will be carrying out a project entitled "The Status of the New Poland in East European Space."
