Marcelo González is head of the research department at the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH). His research interests include how marine organisms respond under conditions of environmental stress as well as the emergence of pollutants in the Antarctic such as microplastics found in marine and freshwater species. He is also a professor in biology at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. He received his PhD from the University of Montpellier.
