Expert Bio

Misun Kim is an MA Candidate of Ewha Womans University. She studied law at college and changed her major to politics when she applied for the graduate school. She is interested in the formation and development of modern nation-state and nationalism, and in the future, she'd like to study those topics in historical context by comparative study on Korea, Japan and China. The goal of her study is to understand Korean political system and its character.

"The Study On ‘Nationalism’ of North Korea: through the Socialist Constitution built in 1972"

Project Summary

This project is to find out how North Korea's 'nationalism' had completed as an established institution. By tracking the whole process of Kim Il-Sung's political struggle and survival to establish his "Monolithic Power System" and how this was eventually completed in the Socialist constitution, and how Kim Il Sung mobilized 'nationalism' in this whole process, one would be able to understand the political basis that has been sustaining the North Korea's ruling system.
