Full Biography
Murad Subay is an artist and political activist from Yemen who became widely known for his series of street art campaigns from 2012 - 2015. Murad encouraged people on the street to join the campaign to express their opinions and emotions through art.
He was awarded the “Innovation Shield” from the American Islamic Congress Organization in 2013 for his work on the forcibly disappeared persons and the “Youth Shield for Creativity” was awarded to him by the Yemeni Socialist Party in 2014 for his first three campaigns. He received the “Art for Peace” award in 2014 from Veronesi Foundation, an Italian Foundation that awards one artist each year for their artworks that promotes peace in the world. He also received a “Certificate of Appreciation” from ESCWA in 2015 and the 2016 Freedom of Expression Arts Award by Index on Censorship organization in London, UK.
Murad now resides in France where he continues his art professionally.
