Full Biography
Dr. Cruz holds a PhD, Master's and Bachelor's degree in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2012, his doctoral thesis on Income Distribution and the Development Model in Mexico was awarded the Annual Prize for Economic Research Maestro Jesús Silva Herzog, granted by the Instituto de Investigaciones Económicas (IIEc), also of UNAM; where he later pursued postdoctoral studies and is currently Senior Researcher A, definitive. He was also coordinator of the Graduate Program in Economics, based at that academic institution.
He is currently a professor in the Graduate Program in Economics at UNAM and is a member of the National System of Researchers, Level 1.
In several works and publications his interest is focused on inequality, income distribution, extreme poverty and slow growth. In his academic work he also analyzes macroeconomic scenarios through the Monte Carlo technique, as well as various impacts of alternative public policies.
In addition to a prolific editorial work, numerous participations in public forums, congresses and seminars, national and international, he also accumulates an extensive work of dissemination among student communities and local social actors.
Since 2019, by presidential appointment, he has served as Executive Secretary of the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy.
