Full Biography
Dr. Salma Nims was appointed Secretary-General of the Jordanian National Commission for Women in 2014. She holds a PhD in development planning and a master’s degree in sustainable development from the University of London. She has been working since her doctorate in 2004 as a consultant in development and gender with several government and international institutions, including the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Education, the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Women, the United Nations Children's Fund, the United Nations Population Fund, and the Canadian International Development Association. She has worked until her appointment as General Secretary of the Jordanian National Committee for Women Affairs as the executive director of the "Progress" platform, a community movement that seeks to build a positive discourse towards change in Jordan. She is active on social media, especially in the areas of human rights and social justice.
