Expert Bio

Samuel Casper teaches modern Russian, Jewish, and European history at Hunter College, CUNY. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. His dissertation explored the Soviet party-state's campaign during the 1950s and 1960s to exonerate individuals executed under Stalin. His research has previously been supported by the American Councils for International Education’s Title VIII Research Scholar Program, and his broad interests include Soviet and Russian-Jewish history, transitional justice, and perpetrator studies.
