"The Anticlimactic Calamity: Hypersonic Weapons and Nuclear Deterrence"

Project Summary

Hypersonics are objects that travel faster than five times the speed of sound; much faster than a speeding bullet.  Their speed and flight profile promise new capabilities that set them aside from ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and bombers that traditionally carry nuclear warheads.  This research will explore how colossal and anticlimactic this weapon’s introduction will be to the world’s strategic security environment.
