Full Biography
Dr. Tsehaye Teferra is the founder, president, and CEO of Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC) Inc, a national refugee resettlement agency established in 1983. His leadership and vision have shaped ECDC from a start-up agency to a major community-based organization. A native of Ethiopia, Dr. Teferra received his undergraduate degree from Haile Selassie I University in Addis Ababa. He then earned an MS in Applied Linguistics and a PhD in Sociolinguistics from Georgetown University in Washington DC, where he also served as a Research Associate in the School of Languages and Linguistics. In 2013, Dr. Teferra was selected as an Outstanding American by Choice by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services and as a White House Champion of Change in 2012. He is a former Board Member and Vice-Chair of Interaction and current Board Member of Save the Children.
