Full Biography
Veronika Makoviak is a staff assistant intern for the Global Europe program and Kennan Institute at the Wilson Center. Her main research interests are populism, propaganda, polarization, cultural & political identity, and the recent rise of nationalism in Europe. She is also deeply interested in the intersection of film and politics, and how this medium is used as a tool to spread a political influence.
She is an undergraduate, international student from Kyiv Ukraine, currently studying at Cornell University majoring in Political Science and Performing & Media Arts. She has gained experience in advocacy while working for Center for Civil Liberties, a human rights organization which has been actively working for the protection of human rights in Ukraine.
Veronika is proficient in Ukrainian, Russian and English, and knows basic German and Mandarin.
