Full Biography

Vladimir Lukin is a Russian politician and senator in the higher chamber of the Russian Duma from Tverskaya Oblast’. He has served as deputy chairman of the Russian Duma and as Ombudsman. During the 1990s, Lukin was one of the founding members of the centrist to center-left Yabloko party and served as Russian Ambassador to the United States from 1992-1994. As a member of the Duma, Lukin has presided over the committee for international affairs, and is currently president of the Russian Paralympic Committee. He left the Yabloko party in 2020 after voting in support of Vladimir Putin’s constitutional changes.
