Dr. Yuliia Soroka is a cultural sociologist and Professor at the Department of Sociology at N.V. Karazin Kharkiv National University in Ukraine. She is also a Senior Researcher at the Gender Centre of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
Her work examines symbolic spaces within Ukrainian society, engaging with various themes such as post-Soviet transformation, media discourse, urban symbolic change, and power relations in culture.
Her latest research focuses on the sociocultural impact of military occupation and gender relations during war, including autoethnographic studies on life under occupation and media representations of war.
She has published over 120 works, including books, research papers, and academic syllabi.
