Also joining us is Lorenzo Córdova, Councilor President of Mexico's National Electoral Institute (INE). Córdova discusses the threat from the passage of a bill by Mexico’s legislature designed to curb the power of the INE, the non-partisan and independent agency that oversees elections. They also discuss recent mass protests across Mexico in support of the INE’s mission and the success that organization has had in helping protect political stability in Mexico.
The Mexico Institute seeks to improve understanding, communication, and cooperation between Mexico and the United States by promoting original research, encouraging public discussion, and proposing policy options for enhancing the bilateral relationship.
