Perspectives on the Willow Project’s Approval
The Biden Administration on March 14, 2023 approved the Willow oil and gas drilling project from ConocoPhillips. Located on Alaska's North Slope, the Willow Project has been controversial: there are deep divisions between supporters, who point to jobs, income, and energy security benefits; and opponents, who are concerned about environmental protection, the risk of spills, and the project's contribution to climate change.
