Award for Global Corporate Citizenship

Chanda Kochhar is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank Limited. Ms. Kochhar is widely recognized for her role in shaping the retail banking sector in India and for her leadership of the ICICI Group, as well as her contributions to various forums in India and globally. She has been a member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Trade & Industry and the Board of Trade and High-Level Committee on Financing Infrastructure. She is the president of the International Monetary Conference, an organization that annually brings together the chief executives of approximately 70 of the world’s largest financial institutions from 30 countries, along with officials from government institutions and was the Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in 2011.

The Woodrow Wilson Award for Global Corporate Citizenship

The Woodrow Wilson Award for Global Corporate Citizenship is bestowed upon executives who have and continue to play a significant role improving the lives of communities around the world. Reflecting Woodrow Wilson’s keen interest in international cooperation, recipients of this award understand the need for the business community to help communities connect to the global community.  These extraordinary individuals see the private sector as a mobilizer, supporting people to be strong and positive contributors to society.

Award for Public Service

Senator Mitch McConnell is the U.S. Senate Majority Leader.  Senator McConnell was elected to that position unanimously by his Republican colleagues first in 2014 and again in 2016. He has been called “the most conservative leader of either party in the history of the Senate.” He has also earned a reputation as a “master tactician” for permanently locking in critical tax relief for working families and small businesses, and putting in place the most significant spending reduction legislation in a generation. In 2015, TIME Magazine named Senator McConnell one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.

The Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service

The Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service is given to individuals who have served with distinction in public life and have shown a special commitment to seeking out informed opinions and thoughtful views. Recipients of this award share Woodrow Wilson’s steadfast belief in public discourse, scholarship, and the extension of the benefits of knowledge in the United States and around the world.

James (Jim) J. Murren and Heather Hay Murren

Jim Murren is Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International.  In 2016 MGM opened a new property in Maryland, bringing over 5,000 new jobs to the Washington, DC area. Mr. Murren leads a company of nearly 77,000 employees that operates 17 destination resorts nationally and internationally. Over the years, he has been a pioneer in the area of corporate diversity. Among the company's management ranks, more than 38 percent are minorities and nearly 43 percent are women. During Murren's tenure as Chairman & CEO, the company has continued to garner wide recognition for its leading diversity and inclusion initiatives, such as: 40 Best Companies for Diversity (Black Enterprise Magazine), Top 10 Companies for Latinos (DiversityInc Magazine), Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality (Human Rights Campaign Foundation), Top 10 Regional Companies (DiversityInc), Top 100 Companies for MBA Students (Universum Global), and Top Corporation for Women’s Business Enterprises (Women's Business Enterprise National Council). FORTUNE Magazine has named MGM Resorts one of the World’s Most Admired Companies.

Image removed.Heather Hay Murren is a private investor with more than 25 years of professional experience in finance and more than a decade of service in health care and government. She co-founded the first non-profit cancer research and treatment center in Las Vegas, the Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI), where she previously served as Chairman and CEO. In 2009, she was appointed by Congress to serve on the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission (FCIC). In 2016, she was appointed and served as a Commissioner on the White House Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity.

The Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship

The Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship is given to executives who, by their individual examples and their business practices, have shown a deep concern for the common good beyond the bottom line. These leaders have inherited Woodrow Wilson’s commitment to scholarship, public discourse, and the promotion of knowledge both at home and abroad. They work tirelessly in the service of their belief that private firms should be good citizens in their own neighborhoods and in the world at large.
