CloseNavigating the South China Sea
July 9, 2013
This week on Dialogue at the Wilson Center we turn our attention to the rise of China on the high seas by focusing on the People’s Republic’s claims to sovereignty over the area of the Pacific Ocean known as the South China Sea. Our guest is Marvin Ott, Senior Scholar with the Wilson Center’s Asia Program and Adjunct Professor and Visiting Research Scholar with Johns Hopkins University. Also, Eleonore Pauwels, researcher with the Science and Technology Innovation Program at the Wilson Center, joins us to discuss her recent op-ed in The New York Times entitled “Our Genes, Their Secrets,” which looks at attempts to patent human genes.
