The scientific director of FAPESP, Dr. Carlos Henrique de Brito Cruz, will keynote the event. FAPESP is a leading funder of scientific research in Brazil. Dr. Brito Cruz’ presentation will focus on FAPESP’s present priorities, São Paulo’s scientific output this century, expanding collaboration with international research center from both public and private sector and the perspective for the coming few years.

FAPESP is a foundation, funded by the taxpayer in the State of São Paulo, Brazil,  with the mission of supporting research in all fields of knowledge within the State. A relevant element of FAPESP’s strategy is to develop opportunities for scientists in São Paulo to work with colleagues abroad. Scientists in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, author 50% of the scientific articles published by scientists in Brazil every year, and programs in the state contribute 45% of the doctoral level scientists graduated yearly in the country. The foundation has established partnerships with funding agencies, companies, higher education and research organizations around the world.
