Education on the U.S.-Mexico Agenda? - Mexico Institute in the News (In Spanish)
A higher education initiative between the U.S.- Mexico governments can improve the relationship between the two countries. By creating a bilateral program that can facilitate the exchange of top students and professors from both countries, Mexican students could benefit from prestigious math and science programs in the United States, while American students could benefit from recognized language and cultural programs in Mexico. In the long run, this initiative could create a generation of more competitive professionals in both countries.

El nuevo gobierno en México ha iniciado su gestión con una agenda activa en el tema de la educación, logrando una reforma constitutional en la materia dentro de sus primeros dos meses, un avance bien recibido por la sociedad mexicana por responder a una de las necesidades más sentidas de la población. ¿Hay posibilidades de que este tema también surja como eje en la agenda bilateral con Estados Unidos?
Ambos gobiernos buscan temas que podrían dar un nuevo brillo a la agenda bilateral, que en los últimos seis años fue acaparada por la cooperación en materia de seguridad. No hay tema que se preste mejor para esto que la educación, que está en el primer lugar en la agenda pública en México y también tiene ecos importantes con las reformas educativas que está siguiendo Obama en Estados Unidos.
