Sigamos Haciendo Historia - Explainer

Founded in November 2023, the Sigamos Haciendo Historia (Let's Continue Making History) coalition is an alliance between the Morena, PT, and PVEM parties for the 2024 election cycle. This coalition was predated by the Juntos Hacemos Historia (Together We Make History) coalition which competed in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 elections. The coalition was preceded by the Juntos Haremos Historia (Together We Will Make History) alliance which was comprised of Morena, Partido Encuentro Social (a now-defunct party), and the PT. Juntos Haremos Historia competed in the 2018 elections, winning not only the presidency but also the majority in both houses of congress. Three years later, but under a new name, the coalition retained its majority in the 2021 Chamber of Deputies elections. 

The interests of each party in the coalition vary drastically, with Morena aspiring to garner a plurality of votes on one side while, on the other, PT and PVEM are hoping to attract enough votes to keep their respective party registries. The coalition seeks to retain the presidency and maintain the majority in Congress.
