Wilson Center Latin America Program Statement on the Management of Guatemala’s Presidential Election

The Wilson Center Latin America Program expresses its concern regarding apparent irregularities in the management of Guatemala’s presidential election and urges the authorities to guarantee a transparent process consistent with Guatemalan law. Democratic governments throughout the Americas should support the rights of the Guatemalan people and cooperation with European Union and Organization of American States election observation missions.


El Programa para América Latina del Wilson Center expresa su preocupación por aparentes irregularidades en la gestión de las elecciones presidenciales de Guatemala e insta a las autoridades a garantizar un proceso transparente y acorde con las leyes guatemaltecas. Los gobiernos democráticos de las Américas deben apoyar los derechos del pueblo guatemalteco y cooperar con las misiones de observación electoral de la Unión Europea y la Organización de los Estados Americanos.
