WASHINGTON – The Wilson Center announced today the selection of Megan Doherty as its new Vice President for Programs. In this role, Ms. Doherty will oversee the development and effectiveness of the Center’s programmatic framework and its outstanding program teams, deploying the Center’s insights and expertise to inform and shape the public debate on international affairs and US foreign policy.

Green, President and CEO of the Wilson Center. “Her experience in shaping and implementing international development programs, as well as her proven track record of working with policy experts and government leaders, will be invaluable in helping us advance our mission.”
Ms. Doherty comes to the Wilson Center with over 20 years of foreign policy and national security experience both inside and outside government. Most recently she served as a Deputy Assistant Administrator at the US Agency for International Development (USAID), focusing on multinational affairs on the Middle East where she oversaw global partnerships and multilateral engagement. She previously served twice at the White House as a Senior Foreign Policy Advisor and as the National Security Council Director for North Africa. Prior to her work at USAID, Ms. Doherty was Mercy Corps’ Senior Director for Policy and Advocacy.

She has also served at the Department of State, advising senior US government officials on US policy priorities and strategies in the Middle East and North Africa. In addition, Ms. Doherty held various leadership roles at the National Democratic Institute.
