Festus Mogae is a former President of the Republic of Botswana (1998-2008) and a former Wilson Center Public Policy Scholar. He leads the organization, Champions for an HIV Free Generation in Africa, and chairs the Council of Elders. Steven McDonald is Consulting Director of the Wilson Center's Africa Program and of the project on Leadership and Building State Capacity.
