The United States Supreme Court has just opened what may be on of its most momentous sessions. Under the leadership of new Chief Justice John Roberts the court will hear cases involving the civil rights of prisoners and abortion challenges. The court will begin its work with Sandra Day O'Conner still on the bench but destined to retire. Supreme Court reporter Joan Biskupic examines the complications of these and other developments.
