Expert Bio

Adesoji Adelaja is the John A. Hannah Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University (MSU), where he has been for 15 years.  At MSU, he also founded the Land Policy Institute and served as its director for seven years.  Before MSU, he was at Rutgers University for 18 years where he served as a professor, department chair, dean of research, college dean and executive dean.  Between 2011 and 2015, Adelaja served at the Nigerian Presidency as a special adviser on economic intelligence.  There, he drove the development of the redevelopment plan for the Northeast and chaired the Presidential Initiative for the Northeast.

Project Summary

This project will leverage the knowledge base of leading scholars and thinkers in proffering policy solutions to 14 of Nigeria's pressing development issues.  Specific issues include: Economic Strategy, Development Strategy, Natural Resources, Infrastructural development, Social Infrastructure, Agriculture and Food Security, Nigerian Diaspora and Development, Healthcare Policy and Strategy, Education, Political System and Political Leadership, Security infrastructure protection, Global and Regional Relations, Law and Order, National Identity and Reputation.
