Wilson Center Project

“The Ukrainian Crisis: A Multi-perspective Approach.”

Project Summary

The project examines four key moments within the Ukrainian crisis: The Maidan movement following the proliferation as demonstrators and Berkut troops collide, the events in Odessa on the 2nd of Mai 2014, Crimea´s annexation and the MH 17 Malaysia plane crash. The historical order of events will be sketched and examined for any signs of involvement taken by other states. Also the media landscape will be focused: Where does the media coverage of the different states has points of intersection and where do it diverge from another- and how could that be explained? Finally, the results which will emerge through the research will be distilled to open a field of potential tentative conclusions which can be made in this conflict and will eventually lead to new solution approaches.
