Full Biography
Dr. Cristina Mariño is an experienced pediatrician and educator with over 20 years of training and practice in pediatric infectious diseases. She currently works as the coordinator for the pediatric infectology service at the Hospital Militar Central in Bogota, Colombia. She is also a professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Nueva Granada Military University.
She has participated in multiple research projects and publications in pediatric infectology and Vaccines. She is a scientific advisor “ad hoc” to the Colombian Ministry of Social Protection in the areas of infectology and vaccines. She has collaborated with the ACIN (The Colombian Association of Infectology) in the elaboration of the pediatric guidelines, and participated in the elaboration and publication of investigation works in the areas of pediatric infectology and vaccines.
Previously she was a member of the Council of International Advisors for the ISID (International Society for Infectious Diseases). She has received medical and academic awards and distinctions, and has been a speaker at many national and international conferences on pediatric infectology and vaccines. Between 2010 and 2014 she was the President of the Colombian Pediatric Society; she is currently a member of the society Board of Directors and represent the Colombian Pediatric Society before government and in the field of immunizations. Her main areas of interest are vaccines, tropical diseases, respiratory infections, nosocomial infections, and antibiotic resistance.
