The 2008 Russian Armed Forces Reform: A Case of Military Emulation?
Project Summary
Belonging to the field of International Security studies, my research uses the conceptual framework of military change to analyze the 2008 Russian military reform. It seeks to demonstrate how the Russian military could have learned from Western practices and how this lesson-learning could have shaped the reform in certain aspects. From an academic standpoint, my research aims to bring closer two fields which have not interacted enough so far - military changes and Russia studies. On a broader perspective, it seeks to address the various challenges posed by the recent evolutions of the Russian defense and foreign policy.
