Full Biography
Guilherme Leal is the Co-Founder of Natura and CoChairman of the Board for Natura & Co., home to Avon, Natura, The Body Shop, and Aesop. He is also actively involved in corporate citizenship efforts and civil society movements. Mr. Leal has been instrumental in advancing Natura’s commitments to social and environmental responsibility. Under his leadership, Natura has become a recognized leader in the sustainable development and preservation of the Amazon region. In partnership with local communities, Natura sustainably sources ingredients from the forest’s biodiversity, upholds the principles of fair trade, and assists communities in remaining on the land that has been theirs for centuries.
Over the last 30 years, Mr. Leal has participated in the creation and promotion of several civil society organizations. In 2008, he joined with others to found the Instituto Arapyaú, a nonpartisan, non-profit institution that promotes dialogue and networking to advance economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable development. Subsequently, he co-founded RAPS, an organization working across party lines to make sustainability a priority among political leaders in Brazil. In 2020, he co-founded the Concertação Pela Amazônia (Partnership for the Amazon), a network of public and private sector leaders, researchers, traditional communities, civil society organizations, and the media dedicated to promoting sustainable development in the Amazon region.
