    Jan Adamec is an independent scholar based in Prague, Czech Republic.

    Full Biography

    Jan Adamec is an independent scholar based in Prague, Czech Republic. He earned his doctorate in History from the Charles University in Prague (2016) and an M.A. in History from Central European University in Budapest (2004). His research focuses on Czechoslovakia's foreign relations from 1948-1989.

    Currently, Adamec is a lecturer at the College of Journalism in Prague. From 2013 to 2017, he was the editor of the Czech section of the online magazine Visegradrevue.eu. He also runs the online magazine on the Cold War, Praguecoldwar.cz. He frequently publishes in Czech and Slovak media on history, such as in the weekly Respekt, the daily Lidové noviny, and historyweb.sk, and speaks on Czech Radio.

    He is the author of several articles and chapters on Czechoslovakia's diplomatic history, including "Our friendship is longer than the river Yangtze and higher than the Tatra Mountains’: Sino-Czechoslovak Trade in the 1950s," in Europe and China in the Cold War: Exchanges Beyond the Bloc Logic and the Sino-Soviet Split, and "Czechoslovak-Syrian Relations During the Cold War," in Syria During the Cold War: The East European Connection.
