Jiyul Kim is a Visiting Instructor of History at Oberlin College, Ohio. He retired from the U.S. Army with over 28 years of service as an intelligence officer and a Northeast Asia Foreign Area Officer specializing in Japan and the Koreas. His final assignment was as the Director of Asian Studies and Regional Studies Coordinator at the U.S. Army War College. His publications have dealt with history, archaeology, policy, strategy, culture, and military issues. He is currently working on The Korean War: A New History with Sheila Miyoshi Jager.
