Joppe Schaaper

Joppe Shaaper holds a Masters of Arts in history from the University of Amsterdam. He specializes in the socio-cultural history of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. His focus is on transnational and international history, including Dutch-Cuban cultural exchange, diplomatic relations, student protests of the 1960s, and international student politics. His masters thesis examined two international student organizations: the International Union of Students (Prague, mostly communist) and the International Student Conference (Lieden, Holland; mostly Western), and their relations to the Cuban student community.
