Full Biography
Julia Davatzes is a current graduate student at George Washington University pursuing an MA in International Development with a focus in humanitarian aid. She previously earned a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia. Prior to her graduate studies, Julia worked for a disaster management firm where she helped communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. She primarily worked on disaster risk reduction and post-disaster housing programs, but also served on multiple active disaster deployments for hurricanes and COVID-19. This summer, she served as a Peace Fellow for the Advocacy Project in northern Uganda and supported a local WASH program and economic empowerment project for GBV survivors. Julia is passionate about providing safe, decent shelter for displaced persons and grateful to learn from the experts at RAFDI this semester.
