Expert Bio
Kate Tietzen is a recent Ph.D. in History from Kansas State University. Her research focuses on Iraqi foreign policy and military history during the Cold War era; her work also examines how Baʿth foreign and military policy shifted in the 1990s. She has studied Arabic in Oman and Jordan, the latter courtesy of a U.S. State Department Critical Language Scholarship. She also served as a researcher and editor for the U.S. Army’s study on OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM entitled, The U.S. Army in the Iraq War (published 2019).
